Cater to travelers’ wishes

It pays to know what vacationers want in a rental accommodation. It’s a fairly safe bet that the majority are looking for a place where they can spread out for a comparable price to a cramped hotel room. You can also be assured that the majority of your guests will probably cook most of their own meals. Others are simply looking for the kind of peace and quiet you just can’t get at a crowded resort. For these reasons, it pays to anticipate what your potential renters want and to provide amenities that will appeal to the masses.

The preferred amenities you should make available include high-quality mattresses, modern appliances, fluffy towels, toiletries and a way to remain entertained both indoors and out. A pool table, swimming pool, fire pit, and library of books, movies, and games will appeal to travelers adventuring with children and teenagers. Make sure you also stock your kitchen with the basics, including plates, cutlery, and glasses. For added convenience, you should also leave your mobile or office number, Wi-Fi codes, and other pertinent information out in the open where your visitors will not have to scramble to find it.

Clean and clutter-free 

Even more important than the amenities you provide is the cleanliness of the property. You can offer all of the video games in the world, but dirty sheets and a clogged toilet will quickly result in a bad review – and even a single instance of negative feedback can ruin your rental’s reputation. Your rental should be spotless from the front porch to the back door. Between each guest, you – or your cleaning company – should go over the property with a fine-toothed comb. Don’t neglect the refrigerator, bathrooms, or pull out sofa. Every surface should be cleaned and disinfected.

 Clutter is another issue that can turn a dream vacation into a nightmare. Less is more when it comes to decor. In other words, the tabletops should be free of trinkets and wall art should be minimal but relevant to the area – think a few well-positioned images of Hollywood starlets instead of an entire wall of photographs. The furniture should be durable and comfortable, and there should be enough seats – and sleeping areas – for the maximum number of potential occupants. 

With so many reasons to visit Los Angeles, it makes sense that it’s such a popular tourist destination. And if you have an empty home, you can get your share of these tourism dollars by turning it into a rental. But remember, keep it clean, provide the things your renters want and need, and make sure they have someone to contact in case of an emergency.
