Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi Buy $2.9 Million Midcentury Bungalow Near Butterfly Beach in Montecito
Amongst retiring the Ellen DeGeneres show, in April of this year, DeGeneres sold her Los Angeles Tudor-style Beverly Hills mansion for $45 million and has purchased yet another property in Montecito accumulating to a total value of more than $450 million in real estate.
DeGeneres and De Rossi have closed on a $2.9 million Montecito estate, which stands as a two-bedroom, two-bath 1,700 square foot bungalow tucked away walking distance to beautiful Butterfly Beach.
The modestly sized estate was built in 1954 and is privately hidden at the very end of a long driveway along with three other homes. The Montecito bungalow was listed as a “single level contemporary jewel,” and described as undergoing extensive renovations over the years. The open- concept home sits on nearly half an acre with a Bali feel, palm trees throughout, and adorned with rich materials.
There are stainless appliances, a stone-topped center island, and custom cabinets trimmed in exotic wood, plus a vaulted ceiling with whitewashed exposed beams.
The property is without a swimming pool, however, the place is heavily equipped for noise reduction, which serves as a huge value as the property backs directly up to the local Santa Barbara train tracks, and bustling Highway 101.
Did you know that Santa Barbara is a mere hour away from Calabasas and Hidden Hills?
Nancy Kogevinas at Berkshire Hathaway held the listing; Riskin Partners Group at Village Properties repped DeGeneres.
